Olive.Online
The Olive online platform is not just another shopping app; it is an extensive e-commerce ecosystem that needs a robust technological and design foundation to run smoothly. My core task on this project was to design the complete web administration that serves as the main control centre for the entire customer-facing mobile app. From a product design perspective it was a fascinating challenge: taking an enormous amount of data, business processes and settings and forging them into a clean, intuitive interface that reliably powers everyday sales without a hitch.
A two-level architecture
The most complex and most important step of the whole design was getting the information architecture right. From the start I conceived the system as two independent yet cooperating levels. The first level serves the main administrators (the platform owners) for global management and oversight. The second, absolutely crucial level works as a dedicated merchant admin – a space tailor-made for individual retailers. For both roles I had to define specific user flows so that every user has full control over their part of the business without being cognitively overloaded by functions they never need.
From stock levels to loyalty modules
The Olive online administration covers the entire life cycle of a store in real time. I focused on maximum ergonomics for routine work – from complex management of the whole product assortment to fast dispatch and handling of hundreds of orders a day. A significant part of the design was the marketing and customer-retention section. I gave retailers clear tools for managing loyalty modules, publishing promo banners, adding recipes, creating discount campaigns and configuring advanced logical rules for the shopping cart. Thanks to well-thought-out UX, even the most complex business logic took on a visually comprehensible form.
A design system as the foundation of sustainability
For a tool this extensive and feature-rich to grow safely over the long term, screens could not be designed in isolation. I therefore built the entire administration on a robust, custom-made design system. This atomic approach guarantees absolute visual and interaction consistency across all tables, forms and dashboards on both levels of the administration. The result is a scalable, meticulously finished product package that saves developers time during implementation and gives retailers a confident tool for growing their business.
